About Spenser

Hi! My name is Spenser Nabors!

I am a senior in high school with an immense passion for Math. Currently, I am enrolled in AP Physics, AP Calculus BC and College Algebra through Lone Star College. I have plans to attend the University of Houston for a double major in Math & Computer Science.

I have spent my highschool career honing my algebraic skills, focusing my cirriculum path on STEM courses. I recieved a score of 680 on the Math portion of the SAT, and have yet to recieve less than a 4/5 on a Math or Science AP Test. For past year, I have been a math tutor at Kumon Math & Reading, helping students K - 12, from simple arithmetic to Calculus, to excel in their academic careers.

I understand the negative stigma surrounding math, and believe the best way to destigmitize its difficulty is to strip it down to the barebones basics and to teach at the pace best for each individual student on a case by case basis. I work hard to ensure that my students understand each individual procedure I follow, to identify the divergence in their understanding, and for them to truly understand what is happening under the hood of the process to allow them to soar in their academic pursuits.

My passion for math stems from the melodic nature of its moving parts. From simple arithmetic to Calculus, the ebb and flow of mathematical procedures has always been such an interesting concept to me.

However, I realize that this love for math does not extend to everyone, and that many have built the stigma that math is simply "hard and pointless." Conversely, I believe that math, while challenging, is one of the most rewarding subjects to excel in - not only due to its practicality later in life, but for its all too satisfying "A-ha!" moments. Extending such moments to other people has become one of my driving forces in the time I have been with Kumon Math & Reading, and I hope to continue to pass these moments on and to spread the accesibility and technical prowess with math to those who wish to learn, or achieve more in their academic careers!
