About Ashhad

I have acquired skill-sets that aren't solely academia focused, but I have an immense emphasis on how do people learn and what strategies can be implemented for the most successful journey to tackle one's educational endeavors.

I take pride in helping individuals overcome their educational challenges, I definitely can attest to getting a sense of satisfaction by helping people achieve their desired goals! To share a little personal information about me as a person, I have an older brother with cerebral palsy who's non-verbal and entirely dependent. When he was young, doctors simply dismissed his potential by claiming he would never be able to communicate. Little did they know, he found his own way of expression that falls beyond the standardized communication of words or physical touch as we know it. Growing up and helping him alleviate his communicative barries has been one of the most pleasant experiences of my life and serves to be my biggest inspiration in helping other people overcome their own challenges.

3 years ago working part-time as a college student.

I earned my bachelor's degree in psychology and chemistry, as well as completing the relevant coursework for my intended doctorate program. I have 3+ years of experience in providing personalized, ABA-based therapy to clients found on the autism spectrum. This position vigorously challenged the character a teacher should employ and helped develop a diverse range of skill-sets. I have tutored individuals in courses ranging anywhere from grade-level to college, as well as standardized examinations.

About the lesson

My typical process for working with a new student is to first understand what type of learner they are, mostly emphasizing their strengths and weaknesses as learners. My main focus is to allow the student to be comfortable with asking questions, but in order to do so adequately, I need to offer a framework for the student to base their questions from. My personal vendetta against teachers is too often they expect students to ask appropriate questions or blame them for their lack of initiative. However, if a student doesn't understand how to articulate the proper questions based on the topics discussed, a student will be reluctant to engage and very well may believe that the surface-level knowledge is sufficient in understanding the material. Once the examination day comes around, the lack of depth and using only the superficial knowledge learned results in poor scores, accompanied by broken expectations and self-loathing. My rule of thumb in learning is if I can't explain or teach someone a certain notion, my knowledge cannot be considered proficient. The objective is not for the student to repeat or convince me about what they may have learned from our tutoring sessions, instead, the student(s) should be capable of teaching the material to me and/or project a memorable or ubiquitous version.

I have extensive experience with special needs, individuals with test anxiety, and learning disabilities. And of course, I have simply worked with individuals who seem to struggle with only a certain class.

Look for a teacher that isn't only academically viable to your needs, but carry a demeanor that's capable of teaching; prestigious credentials don't always equate to a good instructor.

I'm extremely proud of graduating with a commencement honor this month while taking a rather rigorous 20-credit course load.

On typical bases, my standard pricing ranges from $17-25.00. However, that price is derived from the work experience I have compiled and I'm more than willing to negotiate a price that serves best for both parties.
