About Jennifer

I am a 20+ years experienced math teacher and K-12 certified. I’m very patient and I have many ways to help my students understand the mathematics. Most of my students say they understand it better after I show them and explain the process. I can come to your home or meet at your local library or Starbucks.

During the time I was studying for my undergraduate in Mathematics, I started to tutor many of my friends. I also started to take jobs that requires tutoring and eventually teaching math. Most people I've met, say that I am a natural teacher, because I explain the topic well enough for students to understand.

I am an experienced math teacher and tutor. I have taught for over 20 years, so I know a lot about my topic and ways to help all students in understanding math. I really try to make learning fun especially in math. I have a double masters degree in curriculum/instruction in mathematics and leadership. I am a proud K-12 AZ certified teacher.

About the lesson

I am very friendly and I have a lot of patience. I usually take the first 3 minutes to get to know my students. Of course, this is just the quick get to know you, but as we continue to spend more time with one another we will learn more about each other.

I have worked with all students with all different types of ability. While I work with them, I adjust techniques to their thinking and learning styles. If I noticed they are more visual, I draw more pictures. If they need a story, I create one. I really try to bring in our surrounds to help them see and understand the mathematics better.

My advice would be to give me a try. I can only help with your issues with math. As we continue to work together, then I do believe your understanding in math and your scores will improve.

During my recent tutoring session, I noticed my student was very disorganized and his notes were not kept in one place. To help with organization and note-taking, my student and I created an interactive notebook. His notebook is now organized and has all his notes. Most recently, he told me that he studied his notebook notes, which helped him with his test. He scored an 88%. We were both happy on how his notebook helped him. I really liked how he studied on his own.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
There are really no stupid questions, so I would recommend they just ask and I am sure the teacher will help.

Details

My current rate is $40, because I do travel to the students. Therefore, with gas prices the way they are my base price is determined by this. I normally charge more for students who are in specialized classes; i.e. Calculus, Precalculus, Statistics, and/or any other college courses. This requires a bit more time in preparation in calculator usage and content (most questions at these levels do require a bit of prep time, because it does take time to find the best way possible to solve especially staying within the boundaries of how it is taught.)
