About Antonea

A truly successful tutor can make learning real, relevant, and rigorous. Such tutors are experts in their academic content -- they know the subject's concepts, ideas, and problems inside out. ... Tutors who can make learning relevant to students' interests create more students who actually care about what they are learning.

I enjoy tutoring because it gives me the opportunity to teach in a one-on-one situation, focusing my attention on one willing student, and helping that student to achieve his or her goal. I enjoy building a student's confidence and sharing the joy that comes with improvement.

Consider providing a personal anecdote. Share stories of how you made a difference to a child in a classroom or how you successfully taught a challenging lesson as a result of what you learned from that teacher.

Consider the skills and abilities required for the job you applied for- and then consider the important life skills you gained from your college education. If you had a professor that made you think extensively- they were likely developing your critical-thinking skills and problem-solving abilities.

About the lesson

When working with a prospect, the most important aspect of the entire process is building a rapport. ... Students create a detailed description of their current situation and their desired results.

None actually because I am new to the whole tutoring thing but I've had an experience.

f you feel like you're taking up a lot of your host teacher's time, keep a list of questions as you think of them, then ask several at once. Or ask different people different questions, so you're not “bothering” the same people all the time. Seriously, though, it's really not a bother.

I am fond of Dancing, Singing, and working, and hanging out with kids.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What's being learned? What's the topic? What seems most important about what's being learned? At first glance, what's the 'big idea' of what's being learned? What do I already know and not know about this? Why is this important? What is my role in learning this?
