About Elizabeth
Upper Level Math Tutoring is a service that adapts to your needs. I offer patient and non-intimidating knowledge to help you succeed! I study Industrial and Systems Engineering with a minor in Mathematics at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. I am a junior in undergrad, however, I have tutored both youth and peers since I was a sophomore in high school. One of the most difficult things to learning a concept is becoming CONFIDENT! I can make that happen! I suffered from extreme testing anxiety for years, and with the help of one of my professors, was able to overcome it and make a great future for myself. I can do the same for you!
Volunteering for my class! I ended up loving it so much and went back to my high school during semester breaks to teach AP Calculus to the senior class.
I graduated Mayo High School in Rochester, Minnesota with a 4.0, and tutored peers from my sophomore year until graduation. I currently study Industrial and Systems Engineering (which is a LOT of math) as a junior, as well as a mathematics minor (which is even MORE math).

First, I want to learn about their goals. I believe the best way to aid someone's learning is by understanding what they need from me. That way I can adapt my teaching and establish a curriculum to best fit their needs. I also want to develop a relationship with the student, because I want them to feel comfortable in asking questions, or challenging me when they don't fully understand. The student's understanding is the first priority.
Ages 8-19
I would say that the most important thing is actually that you need to feel comfortable saying you don't understand. I once had a tutor that tried to convince me of something incorrect and I was so afraid to say I didn't understand that we wasted an hour and a half talking about something I knew was incorrect!! I got a new tutor. I also had one that was not very nice and actually made me feel a little bad and dumb when I did things wrong, which is NOT okay. You should NEVER feel put down by someone you are learning from.
I was recently a camp counselor at a place called Camp Olson, YMCA in Longville, MN. I had the time of my life. I met the most amazing kids and was able to form incredible relationships with them. I didn't teach much math, but I taught them all about nature and relationships and how to be confident in themselves.
