About Melissa

I am currently in grad school studying special education and am working in an urbanized school district with students with special needs. I also have an under grad degree in child development. I have a passion for education and catering to students' strenghths and using those to imporove their weaknesses.

I have a had multiple internships working with students with special needs. After starting to work in the school systems as a paraprofessional, I knew that I had the skill snecessary to persue a career in teaching, specifically teaching those with special needs.

I have an undergraduate degree in child development and am currently working on my Masters of Special Education (MEd).

About the lesson

I think getting to know a student and understand their interest and strenghts will allow for better instruction and learning.

Mainly, I have worked with elementary aged students with Autism. However, I have been exposed to students in a general education setting, as well as older students.

Keep trying! Instead of staying "I can't do this," change it to "I can't do this YET." It is all about a positive mindset!
