About Jordynn

I have many tips and tricks to share that help students learn and retain concepts faster. I'm serious about academics, but I'm also patient and lighthearted which puts students at ease and makes learning an enjoyable experience!

I'm very passionate about helping others in general, but I'm particularly passionate about helping students attain their goals. Throughout high school I tutored peers as well as middle and elementary schoolers in a wide range of math and science topics from basic algebra to AP Chemistry. Now I'm at Columbia University studying Biomedical Engineering! Here I volunteer for Sci-Inspire, an organization that connects college students to local public schools to assist teachers who teach science, technology, engineering, and math!

I've gained the experience over the years to be a vauluable help to your student, but I'm not so far removed from my own grade school and SAT experiences so I can empathize with anxieties students may feel and help ease the tension so that learning can take place. I earned an 800 on the math SAT and believe that anyone can bring up their scores and achieve the success they desire.

I enjoy getting to know the student and their personality first which not only builds trust, but helps me know how they learn and the best way to present concepts to them. For example, I use diagrams or photos for visual learners, music for those who respond to auditory cues, and a touch of humor has proven to be successful for everyone!

Most students light up visibily at the moment they understand something they've been trying to grasp. Often they tell me they've spent a lot of time on a lesson in class and at home, but in a short time with me it clicked with them much quicker. Seeing their success is the most gratifying part of the tutoring experience for me.
