About Khallela

Hi! My name is Khallela. I graduated from Barnard College with a BA in Political Science and a Concentration in Public Health. I am currently doing research at Albert Einstein Medical College while attending the Columbia University Post-baccalaureate Program with the intention of applying to medical schools in the future.

I have 5+ years of experience working in positions as a Teaching Assistant in classroom settings and as a 1-on-1 tutor (Pre-K to College Level).

I am very patient and have worked with students diagnosed with Inattentive ADHD and have developed strategies to help students stay engaged. I utilize unique tutoring methods to help students discover learning and information retention strategies most effective for them to be successful students.

I can act as a high school and college level tutor for the following subjects:

- General Chemistry

- Organic Chemistry I

- Biology (Ecological/Cellular and Molecular)

- Psychology

- Physics I

- High School Level Math (Geometry, Pre-algebra, Algebra, Algebra-Trig)

- Statistics

- Calculus I

- US & World History

- American Politics (US)

- International Politics

- Political Theory

- Public Health & History of Public Health

- English (writing and reading comprehension)

- College Level Essay Writing

- Scientific Writing (For example, Outlining, Formatting, and Editing Lab Reports, Research Abstracts, etc.)

General Tutoring Approach:

I have a dual monitor system for lessons and would start off by creating an individualized study plan for you, which includes assignment tracking.

I do not take on more than five students at a time. Thus, I have plenty of time slots and a flexible schedule and will be accessible outside of tutoring hours. I would suggest meeting on a consistent basis—when learning, the more consistent you are about studying, the less you will have to review for future exams.

Khallela is a thoughtful and very knowledgeable person. She always checks in to make sure that I stay engaged with her explanations, and asks thought-provoking questions to help me independently think about the content. I would highly recommend her to both students that require high levels of support, and those who just want attentive and friendly guidance with their studies.
