About the lesson

New students will be asked to present textbook chapter(s) currently being taught in his/her class (and/or current worksheets assignments), and to describe which math concepts, if any, s/he already fully understands. Next, we will review math concepts with which s/he is struggling. If deemed necessary, there will be contact and collaboration with the student's math teacher to assess the best approach in classroom and tutoring sessions. The student's academic progress will be measured by his/her math class assignment/test grades, and possible mini-quizzes during tutoring sessions.

I have worked with a wide range of ages and learning levels in teaching/tutoring. From ages four to forty-five; from special education to advanced placement.

Before hiring a tutor, a student first should attempt following free "how to" video tutorials from an online search. Sometimes it helps seeing someone work through a question and explaining each step, with the ability to rewind and pause to process the information.

When deciding to hire a tutor, have in mind specific concepts or steps in a math problem with which you need assistance.

*Did I carefully review any examples given?: 1.Did I identify and understand the question? 2.Did I identify and understand purpose and execution of each method or step needed to answer the question? 3.Did I understand how the answer is correct? 4.Do I understand how to double-check and/or prove the answer is correct?

*Is there a specific concept I do not understand, or a specific part of a concept?

*What information, if any, do I fully or partially understand?
