About Meredith

Hi there! My name is Meredith, and I am currently an undergraduate sophomore at Carnegie Mellon University studying Civil and Environmental Engineering.

Since middle school, I have tutored my peers in many different subjects, including Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Calculus 1, and so on.

Below are some relevant qualifications:

- ACT: 36

- SAT: 1500 (780 Math, 720 Reading)

- SAT Subject Test (Math 2): 800

I enjoy working with kids in my free time. I spent a past summer volunteering as an assistant teacher at a summer camp, teaching K-3 kids English and Chinese. Currently, I serve as a mentor to K-5 girls under the Pittsburgh branch of Strong Women Strong Girls. Seeing others succeed and build confidence around a subject is my goal in teaching.

When I understood a specific subject and had the ability to explain the concepts to my friends, I realized I could tutor others in the subject to improve their knowledge and grades.

I am currently in college. Previously, I have tutored my peers through Peer Tutoring Clubs in middle school and high school.

About the lesson

I like to make introductions first and then see how they are feeling about the subject. My initial goal is to boost their confidence toward their abilities to succeed in a course. Once I have this understanding in mind, I will tailor the session and practice material accordingly.

I have worked with students of all ages, starting as early as kindergarten up to seniors in high school.

Make sure you find a teacher that explains concepts in simple, easily-understood way. Also, look for someone who really cares about your growth as a student and as a person.

Personally, I was very happy to move back to Pittsburgh and go back to school, even if it is over Zoom.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I believe teachers are there to guide students, thus a student should never feel worried about asking a question or talking about their needs.
