About Yash

Hey guys,

My name is Yash Ramgopal and I am currently a sophomore at Emory Univerisity in Atlanta, GA. At Emory, I am studying Quantitative Sciences with a concentration in Biology, along with Economics. Also, I am on the Pre-Med track and I aspire to be a cardiac surgeon. Based on the subjects I am currently studying, I have an in-depth knowledge in the fields of Science (Biology, Chemistry and Physics) and Mathematics (Algebra, Geometry, Calculus and Statistics).

This past semester, I was hired as a learning assistant for the Department of Quantitative Sciences at Emory University and I hold mentoring sessions, as well as private tutoring for students taking the college-level Statistics class. I love interacting with different people and I work extremely hard to make sure that every student understands the concepts, rather than the questions, that will help them excel in their exams.

Apart from academics, I love playing and watching all kinds of sports. Some of the sports I am most involved in are soccer, Formula1 and basketball. I also love watching good TV shows and movies, and I'm always open to recommendations.

My main goal is to make tutoring an extremely fun experience such that the students can learn to appreciate the concepts and apply them to answer questions in their tests.

I started teaching when I was first appointed as a Learning Assistant for the Department of Quantitative Sciences at Emory Univeristy. I was responsible for holding mentoring sessions for students taking the college-level statistics course.
Soon later, I started holding private tutoring for students and they absolutely loved it.
And now, there's no turning back. I love tutoring students and imparting my knowledge.

I am currently a sophomore at Emory University in Atlanta, GA. I study Quantitative Sciences with a concentration in Biology and Economics. I am also a Pre-Med student and have hence taken classes in Physics, Biology and Chemistry as well, apart from mathematics and Statistics.

About the lesson

When a student first contacts me, I work closely with them in order to understand what they want from the sessions I have with them, and also get to know them on a personal level.
Next, I usually diagnose as to how much a student knows in the subject of interest by asking about 10-15 minutes. This acts as my 'diagnostic test' and I can gauge the concepts they struggle with the most.
Based on this, I would anywhere from 2-8 hours/week depending on the student's availability and from then on, it's game time - making sure the student is ready for the test.

I have worked with predominantly college students but I also tutor my younger brother who is a high school student. Hence, I am extremely aware with both types of courses.
