About Brendan

Hello! I am offering help to students in high school and college.

I have one year of tutoring experience at Mt. Hood Community College, And I'm a certified level one tutor by the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA). I have an associates of science from Mt. Hood Community College, and am currently transferring to Portland State to earn a bachelors in mechanical engineering. Since I am still a student, I can sympathize with the transition to online learning and will work to support the student as they develop strong study habits that'll help them later in their education. I look forward to hopefully helping you or your famliy in the future.

I enjoy working with students and helping them achieve their goals. I like seeing their minds at work.

I worked with advisors at MHCC and trained in their toturing center. The spring term we tutored online.

I have a year under my belt working for the the Math and Science tutoring department at Mt. Hood Community College.

Also, I am still a student so I know pressures that deadlines, mid terms, and finals can bring. This lets me offer understanding during high stress times.

About the lesson

I find that It is important to get to know the student. Try to find where their strengths are and how they like to be taught. Once I know what makes a student confident, I can use that to fit the learning experience to them.

At Mt. Hood I worked with a wide verity of students coming from all sorts of different cultural, social and economic backgrounds. I have worked with gifted students as well as those who struggle. I feel comfrotable working with everyone

Math is always hard, and can be very discuraging. A good tutor knows this and can help the sudent not just solve the problem, but feel more confindent in their ablitlies. I believe it is almost impossible to learn without the right attitude, and the best tutors don't just know how to do the math, but also know how to help their student get into a good headspace for learing.
