About Yonas

I had pretty hard time understanding some, but not all, concepts during high school. How to get over it? It took me time until I finally understood that the only way I could overweigh my challenges is just by simple terms. Never read to remember. Yes, simple as that. Hmmm. A bit exaggerated? No, the keys behind are the little tricky ways our brain naturally flows through and indeed follows. By the way, I am not diving here, 'cause no time, we have to read (not to remember, but for the sake of understanding real concepts). Besides, those of you who manage to have study times with me, be ready for in-depth sine-qua-non study and exam tips.

Yet, who is this talkative guy? Hello amigo. This is Yonas. I am an Ethiopian who is currently an undergraduate at Addis Ababa University (Computer Engineering - Junior year). Not only that, I am also working on my double major as a Computer Scientist (BSc. program from the University of London). I kept one of the highest GPA in my palms during my high school years and also in my current college courses. I am one of the few top national exam high scorers. Physics, Math and Computer Science are my fav...not favorite...my ultimate driving forces to keep on learning. Inqusitive by nature, I love questions, but especially, students who ask. I think that is what motivates me to help students like you. Actually I will not 'help' you, instead, I will guide you find your potential and bring it to the world.

You will shine whatsoever, but I REALLY LOVE to be part of your journey!

I started teaching after upon request of three children parent's for private tutor during my freshman year in high school. Although, that was the first time I started earning, I used to assist students in my village for free during my middle school years.

About the lesson

Let's create the bond. After all scientists say we are made up of very tiny particles which are tied by rope-like so called "bonds". So, we need to maintain that at large scale as well. ;)

A bond comes first. This finds its way naturally if you can craft its way artificially.

I put four rules here.

Rule #1) Have a teacher who is disciplined but relaxed and friendly.

Rule #2) Your teacher should not cram the subject, but knows it well. Look for the Conceptual one.

Rule #3) A teacher need to be creative in teaching schemes, dedicated to plan and flexible as well.

Rule #4) A teahcer needs to care for his student above all.

On September 15th, our Robotics team (in which I lead it at Addis Ababa University) in collaboration with middle school students in the city of Addis Ababa, had won the regional Robotics contest. It consisted of participating teams from twenty other Colleges and seven city administrations. And I am really fond of the contest because the students we assisted have proved their worth and potential.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
First of all, students need to have a thorough understanding about themselves. Their strenghts and weaknesses should be identified. It is then, the student can discuss with the teacher about devising ways to improve his/her weakside and reverse it. How to identify weakside?

#1) What subjects am I good at? Am I good at numbers? or Reading? or Physics? or what? This paves the way for the second one.

#2) From the above list, what part specifically challenges me? (specific portions for example)

#3) Is there some pattern here from the different subjects? Point out if any.

#4) Now is the summary time. Weakness and strengthes should be summarised briefly. Extra-curricular factors should also be considered here.

#5) At this stage, the student should ingeniously think for possible solution mechanisms.

#6) After having such deep, self assesment, it is advisable to discuss with parents and the teacher as well.
