About Josephine
The Mastermind is here to help you conquer your math dilemma with confidence and ease! My services are centered around the student's interest and learning styles. With my seven years of math tutoring expertise, I can math not only understandable but enjoyable! My overall goal is to help the student become an independent learner. With my knowledge and experience, I can help a student's knowledge toolkit grow, so they can conquer any math topic with their learning style. Right now, my services are online with Skype and Zoom.
I get the satisfaction of watching a student have an "Ah-ha!" moment. This means that the student is one step closer to becoming a lifelong learner.
My very first job was tutoring because I enjoy helping others learn. Growing up I did not enjoy math. As a result, I did ok in math. During my senior year, I was recovering from two hip surgeries. My AP Physics teacher was my homebound teacher. Here I finally get to see how math moves. I loved how mathematics can show the reality of nature. From then on, I took more math and physics class to learn what makes up nature. The classes weren't easy, but due to my teachers enthusiasm and dedication to help me succeed, I fell in love with math and physics more. Now, it is my mission to spread the beauty of math to others with a fun zeal like my teachers.
I am recent Virginia Commonwealth University grad with a two degrees in math and physics. I have been tutoring for seven years from the elementary level to the college level. My enthusiasm for mathematics will leave the most harden mathphobe to at least smile when they work with me!

First, I establish both a short-term and long-term wise with the student. Second, I listen to the student's struggles and identity how the student learns and how they take notes. Lastly, I ask what are their personal interests, so I can show them the applicability of mathematics.
Typically I work with all types of age groups from adults to young children. I started at the community college level with developmental math, which the level of math found at the elementary to high school level. Also, at community college I assisted in help with tutoring precalculus to differential equations. I have experience working with pre-algebra to trignometry at the middle school to high school level. On my senior year, I work at a non-profit afterschool care program for kids from preschool to middle school. I enjoy every group, and I am learn to help anybody who needs it.
Look for someone is highly passionate and persistent on the subject. A teacher who is not also willing to learn more about the topic, but how to teach the topic in various ways.
