About Shawn

I love tutoring because it allows me to share my talent with others. As a student who has been helping others with many different subjects for as long as I can remember, teaching and tutoring comes as second nature to me. I have been doing tutoring for almost three years, having done a year of peer tutoring as well as almost two years of professional tutoring with a business.

Tutoring is a very social and intrapersonal job. I get to meet many new people and experience all different sorts of personalities. Being able to watch students grow not only academically but also mentally is a gift in and of itself; I have known some of my students for three years and seeing them mature into independent and passionate people is something truly special.

Teaching for me began as an extremely informal and simple subject. It was common in my simpler classes to help around the people who shared my table, or my friends during after-class hours. I came to gain decent recognition within my friend circles, and friends would often offer to buy me lunch for me to teach them subjects. I became passionate about tutoring and joined the local peer tutoring club, logging in over 200 hours within two years. Following this, I joined a math tutoring center to turn my side hobby into a profession.

I am a University student currently attending UCSD. For my lower education, I attended a high-level high school with access to many Advanced Placement (AP) courses, which allowed me to learn a large and diverse set of advanced topics. In high school I received a 4.3 weighted GPA and placed in Honor Roll due to my passion for academics.

About the lesson

I have worked with students of all ages, from kindergarteners to early university students, teaching nearly every math topic in between.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Learning is a very different experience for different students. Students should make sure to take note of what methods and tricks work for them, and make sure that their teacher is able to meet their needs.

My pricing system varies depending on the age of the student and the difficulty of the subject. In general, the simpler the subject, the lower the price.
