About Benjamin

Hi! My name is Benjamin Kromann, and I am currently a graduate student at Georgia State University. I have a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, for which I graduated with full honors and a 3.6 GPA. I have been tutoring high school and college mathematics for 4 years, and have gotten overwhelmingly positive feedback from my dozens of clients.

My tutoring style focuses on real understanding of why a problem is done a certain way, rather than simply telling a student how to do something. This prepares students for the "curve-ball" questions on tests that help distinguish high-achievement students from average students. It also prepares students for the real world, in which the problems to be solved are always unique and require real understanding rather than set procedures.

I truly enjoy tutoring students and always try to keep sessions fun, engaging, and memorable. The biggest failing of the current education system is not in students' grades, but in students' disinterest. If a student is shown how the material is in fact interesting, useful, etc. then there becomes more of a self-motivation by the student to learn, which is how school should be. I take absolute joy in cultivating this genuine interest in the subjects I teach, and in the reaction that students have when they realize that the material can indeed be interesting.

I would love the opportunity to engage the same way with as many children as possible.

Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mississippi State University, Full Honors, 3.6 GPA

Currently taking teaching training courses at Georgia State University Graduate School.

I generally ask about $40/hr, but this is of course flexible. My long-term clients do pay more, but I would certainly be open to a lower rate to start things off.
