About Jacob

I have a legitimate passion for math and I really enjoy helping students learn to appreciate it as well. I will tailor my teaching style depending on the student's personality, learning style, and academic needs.

I really enjoy that "Aha!" moment that comes after helping someone understand a concept with which they have struggled.

I am currently a third year student at USC, studying Business Administration with a Business Analytics emphasis and a minor in AI Applications. I am also concurrently enrolled as a master's student in Applied Data Science.

My first experience with teaching began when I volunteered as an AVID tutor in seventh grade. While in college, I have been volunteering my time as a tutor for Teach for Los Angeles. Additionally, I have worked privately for several years.

I have completed Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Pre-calculus, Calculus A, Calculus B, Calculus C, and Multivariable Calculus. I also have taken multiple college-level statistics classes including advanced Econometrics. I also worked as an AVID tutor for two years, helping students with their schoolwork in order to prepare them to successfully attend college.

Now, as a college student at USC, studying Business Administration with a Business Analytics emphasis and a minor in AI Applications. I am also concurrently enrolled as a master's student in Applied Data Science.

About the lesson

I like to use the first session to get a feel for my student and find out what kind of learner they are. If the student needs help with specific assignments or has specific questions, I will focus on helping them improve the skills needed to achieve their goals. If the student needs general help with a subject, I can create a lesson plan based on their textbook or any other learning materials they may have.

I have worked with students all the way from 7th grade up to 11th grade.

Details

My pricing depends upon the level of math combined with how much preparation I need to do before each of these sessions. Additionally, I am always open to negotiation based upon the financial needs of the student and their family. That said, here are some general ranges to get a feel for the price of my services:

Pre-Algebra or earlier: $40 - $45 per session

Algebra 1 or Geometry: $45 - $55 per session

Algebra 2: $55 - $65 per session

Precalculus: $65 - $75 per session

Calculus AB or BC: $75 - $85 per session
