About Anna

Hello! My name is Anna and I have been a tutor for 10 years. While I mainly tutor math, I have a Masters in Organic Chemistry and am currently working towards a second Masters in Computer Science. I love learning and teaching. I focus on helping students understand the fundamental concepts of their math problems so that they can break down the problem and feel more confident with their solution.

I started tutoring at when I was in high school at Kumon Learning center teaching pre-k and kindergardeners math and reading. When I got to college I started working as a teaching assistant. As my math, science, and teaching skills improved I began doing one on one tutoring sessions.

Education: Bachelors in Chemistry, Masters in Organic Chemistry, and currently in school for second Masters in Computer Science.

Experience: 9 years of tutoring experience including private sessions, working as a teaching assistant, and working for companies including Kumon, Paper, and Tutor Doctor.

About the lesson

I have them work through a problem from their classwork or homework to see where they are at. If they are stuggling with the topic, I break down the problem into easier more focused questions, and then combine them back together into one problem that is back at the level of the original problem.

In high school, I first started working with pre-k and kindergardeners. Then in college, I began working as a teaching assistant, helping my peers at the college level. Since I've started private one on one tutoring, most of my sessions are focused in 5th - 9th grade math plus college algebra.

Make sure you find someone that you are comfortable talking to about what is and is not working. We are here to help you. Every student learns differently. The more you communicate with us, the more we can help you!

It is always exciting to see something really click after a student has worked hard to understand a topic.
