About Clementine

Hi! Meet Mrs Mballa,

I am passionate about math and teaching math!

For the past 18years have been working as a high school math teacher in the US,Maryland and taught all math subjects including Math SAT prep.

I am National Board certified Math teacher(AYA),and I have been serving as a teacher mentor at University of Maryland College Park,School of Education for over 6 years.

I am also my High school department chair person and sponsor of our Math honor Society.

I love to create fun and interactive activities for my students to engage and motivate my students .

My hope is to use my extensive math knowledge and experience to instill in you the love of that beautiful subject .

I love math and love to teach math.I am passionate about connecting and working with people with different background and ability levels

The most rewarding part about the job that I do ,is when i can see that sparkling light in my students 'eyes and these Ahha moments that suddendtly show understanding!

My passion for math naturally led me to be a math teacher.

As far as I remembered, I have always loved math and been passionate about this subject.When I was in high school , I found that many of my classmates were struggling with this susbject and I decided to create a free homework help club to support them.I received many compliments from that that I was a good teacher, and this is how my passion as a math teacher was born.

I am a math classroom math teacher for the past 25 years.

I hold a master degrees +60 credits in math and education and a bachelor degree, Math major.

I am National Board Certified math teacher, Adolescent and young adults since 2011.

I am currently the math department chair in my high school

For the past 6 years, i have been serving as a teacher mentor for student teachers in the math and education program for University of Mayland College Park.

I am also a teacher leader in an incentive program in my county and my role as a teacher leader, is to support new hired math teachers to build their capacity as math teachers.

About the lesson

When starting with a new student,my priority is to create connection and learn about him/her and his/her interests and abilities.It's important to create this connection to reach my learners where they are.I will then try to assess their current math level with different mini pre-tests based on the the topic that we are working on, to help myself plan for the best activities, tools and strategies that will support my students in achieving their learning goals.I will reflect on the lesson outcomes after implementation and use that data to plan for remediation ,next steps or enrichments.

I worked with all high school students grade 9th --12th,general or special education, Honors or regular students.

Throughout my career, I have taught all high math subjects, algebra1, geometry, algebra2, pre-calculus, Ap-calculus.

My piece of advice will be to choose a teacher who loves and is knowledgeable about the subject and is willing to share that passion with you!

Recently, I have been struggling with distance learning and having students turn their camera on.

I teach an advanced Geometry/Algebra 2 class and at the end of the semester in January,we were done with the geometry course.I assigned this fun project on writing a love or break up letter to their geometry class as we switching to Algebra 2.

One of the grading rubric was a 5 points bonus for students who will turned their camera on to present .

I felt so proud of my students because not only their projects were creative and fun, but almost all of them turn their camera on that day!

That was a rewarding experience!

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
My students should feel confident enough to ask me all types of questions based on their needs.It is important for me to create that safe comfort zone where students feel valued for their thinking process and are comfortable in making mistakes,because this is how we learn.
