About Olivia
I grew up in a small town in Wyoming called Cody. From a very young age, I showed a propensity for learning, especially when it came to math. During my high school career, I was involved in many extracurricular activities and groups, such as the Mathletes. I received a 32 on my ACT and only took it once. Throughout all 4 years of high school, I maintained a 4.0 GPA and during my senior year, I moved to Houston, Texas and I bumped it to a 4.6 before graduating.
My college career started at Texas A&M University and I stayed one year. I eventually transfered to the University of Houston to be closer to my family. As I continue my college journey, I hope to not only gain more knowledge but also life long lessons. My hope is to share my love of learning with as many people as possible. I do not think any one is incapable of learning. I think every person has the ability to be great and it is my job for you to believe it as well!
Once I entered into college, I realized I wanted to teach. I do not like the feel of a traditional classroom and prefer to help students one on one. I began helping family friend, their kids and fellow classmates at my college. Before I knew it, I was the person everyone came to and I started being able to make money from it. I would for this to be a career that provides me sustainable living.
Throughout high-school, I oftened stayed after school to help fellow classmates and always helped my siblings, including my much older brother. I officially started tutoring in 2017. So far, I have tutored 6 students, one of which was a 44 year old student. I am willing to teach any one who is willing to learn.
My extensive knowledge of different areas of math gives me the confidence and certainty that I can face any problem head on. No pun intended. My time with the Mathletes allowed me to gain crucial tools that have navigated me through the last 3 years. I continue to grow within my craft and truly feel like this is what I am meant to do.
My time at A&M and U of H, has given me the chance to not only further but continue my education. While your child learns, I will always be learning as well. As I grow, they will grow.

First, I start off by getting to know my student. I think this is crucial to having a positive learning experience. By getting to know the student first, it will allow me to learn their preferred learning styles. After, the student and I will begin to unravel their concerns with math. This will give me the opportunity to accurately decide where we will begin our math journey.
I have worked with elementary, middle school, high school and college level. I have experience with teaching kids who are on the spectrum and who have learning differences. My older brother is on the spectrum and I have always been his tutor.
I would say to make sure you feel comfortable with the person you choose. This is crucial to the tutor and student dynamic. I would also suggest that you find a tutor that is willing to bend their typical learning styles if it does not match your learning style. Tutors must be accommodating.

Olivia is so patient and amazing! She helped my 14 year old son in math and helped bring him up to an A! She also helps me with my college Algebra! 10 out of 10!
I am 29 years old and Olivia has taught me things that I never learned in traditional classroom settings. I recently started college, and she has been a lifesaver in my math and science classes!
