I am High School Science teacher with extensive experience in tutoring math and science as well. In addition, I have a Bachelor's degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry.

I've always naturally been inclined to assist my peers and students in any way possible. I spent several years working as a science tutor in the Science Tutoring Center at California State University, Bakersfield. Through this program I have undergone extensive training to become the best tutor I can be. I have had many students come back asking for me specifically to help with their Chemistry and Biology courses. I have also taken on several private tutoring clients who all excelled in their respective courses. These clients ranged from high school to community college and even some here on the CSUB campus. All of these experiences have helped me become an amazing science teacher so that I may educate young minds for many years to come!

I would say I am an outstanding math and science tutor because I am very knowledgeable in all of the courses I have taken. Also, through my own experiences and the experience gained from being a science teacher, I have learned what it takes to successfully help students. I know that what I need to instill in students is the ability to solve given problems on exams on their own since I obviously cannot be there to guide them.

I love helping people. One of my favorite aspects of teaching is seeing the way student's faces light up when a topic that was previously unclear becomes realized. I have learned many techniques for assisting struggling students through the credentialing program at California State University, Bakersfield. Before these experiences, I was slightly under the impression that all that mattered to be a good teacher and tutor was to really know the subject matters, but I was wrong. Tutoring is so much more than that. Tutoring is a personal relationship developed so that the tutor may help in all aspects of school life and the learning process. Tutoring is a tool used to inspire students to learn the subject material while becoming a better student and better problem solver. It is not just about right or wrong answers, but how you get to these answers that is important. The role of a tutor is not only to teach science or math, but how to teach students to become independent, critical thinking individuals.

I have a teaching credential in science which means I went through extensive training about how to teach. In addition, I have several years of tutoring experience.

About the lesson

First, I enjoy getting to know a new student. This helps me learn how they learn. Then, I like to discuss the topic to see where the new student's prior knowledge level is. Last, I like to look at what the student is working on and develop a plan to complete the necessary tasks.
