About Michael

I am a highschool physics teacher with an extensive background in math and science. I have the experience and great enthusiasm to teach students from a broad range of backgrounds and learning abilities. I graduated from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a Masters in Education in Curriculum and Instruction and a Bachelors of Science in Physics. I have taught in the Champaign, Illinois area as well as at Round Lake Senior High School.

My career is in teaching and it is what I love to do. Plain and simple. Seeing ideas click, thinking up new explanations for abstract concepts, and learning alongside students is the goal of each day. Being a teacher is the rewarding lifestyle I have always wanted.

My aptitude towards teaching has been developed over the course of my experience as a high school teacher as well as the education I earned through my Masters in Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. My expertise in Math and Physics stems from my love of the fields and my undergraduate education at the University of Illinois in Urbana Champaign.

About the lesson

The first thing I do with a new student, whether they are a student in my class or a tutoring subject, is to build a personal connection and figure out how they learn best. Some students absorb information and new ideas like a sponge, but that is obviously not the case for everyone. I need to adapt my teaching style to best fit the student. Once that comfort and confidence in learning has been achieved, real learning can begin!

As a high school teacher, my experience with broad range of abilities has great depth. It has been necessary to adjust lesson plans to meet all learning abilities. While I believe some of the best learning happens in a one-on-one environment, I have experience running entire classrooms of varied learners.
