I love to learn and the best way to learn is to teach. I’ve always taught myself and have a strong understanding of what areas are difficult to grasp. my first official tutoring job was in high school. I assisted a college student with visual impairment. I also volunteered as a tutor for the college readiness class for my peers (AVID tutor).

I graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from UC Davis. I also worked for an after school program through the Davis Unified School District with jr high school students. And most importantly I am the second eldest of six children. Three of which attended college. I’ve helped my siblings for years.

About the lesson

I like to review student’s notes in order to follow the teachers teaching style. In the case of missing information we will go through reading material to find information. I’ll have the student give me a brief overview while I review the notes and figure out what the student has difficulty with. Then we’ll work through examples.

I’ve worked with middle school (7 & 8), high school (11 & 12) and college students.

Student seeking an instructor should evaluate their learning “style” and know what works best for them. If you don’t understand something it’s okay to find another instructor and move on. Everyone is capable of anything they set their minds to but everyone also has the right to find their own learning path. That path is not always the same for everyone.

I graduated from UC Davis June 2018. This accomplishment was achieved without any loans and with the help of more than fifteen scholarships (merit and need based).

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
The student should be aware of what motivates them and what they want to accomplish. The student should find a balance.

Details

I charge hourly for one on one tutoring. I am also open to group study for lower rate. I also provide supplemental instruction for flat rate (i.e. note taking lessons, college know how and essay editing/review).
