About Sara
My name is Sara Duzyk and I am a certified Texas teacher in science. I started as a tutor while in college working on my teaching certification. I tutored all core middle school subjects and when I started teaching I was Middle School science. Recently, I have taught Biology, Principles of Health Science and Anatomy & Physiology in high school. I hold an Interdisciplinary Science degree, completed about 20 hours of higher math, and have 12 years experience in education.
Due to my growing family I am looking to cut back on work though I'm not ready to fully give up teaching. I love learning and helping students discover their own love of learning.
I look forward to working with you!
I love teaching and learning. I also enjoy helping students get to that "a-ha" moment. I have always loved science, its the world around us, and have been good with math too.
I was in a teaching program at UTDallas completing my observation hours. The teacher I was observing mentioned they needed tutors and the following week I was hired. This just confirmed for me I was in the right field. I loved it. As my career progressed I have enjoyed teaching immensely and cannot imagine being in another field.
I was an AVID tutor in a Middle School for 3 years while I was in college. Once I graduated I taught MS science for 6 years then moved up to high school. I have 12 years of experience in education.

When starting out, it is so important to develop rapport. I love getting to know my students and letting them get to know me. I work to establish a professional relationship so the student is comfortable asking questions. This is so important because students will not learn from someone they are uncomfortable with and don't like.
All learning levels.
Don't be afraid to ask for help! There are so many times that I have seen a student finally getting the concept after hearing it a different way from a peer or tutor or another teacher. Some subjects come easier than others and there is no shame in struggling. It just means you are learning though it might require more effort.
Thinking back, my favorite memories are just being in the classroom. I love it when students connect lab activities to the content. I remember specifically a student saying, "Oh! That is what we did in the lab." There was another student I was helping with her college math homework (dual credit) and she was able to correctly answer all her problems after a couple reminders of formulas. It is these types of moments that are so rewarding.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Think about the resources you have, notes, classroom books, peers, past experience and use that to help you work the problem. Then, the step you get stuck on is where you need help. See if it is the same step in other problems. Coming with a problem half complete is actually helpful for the tutor/teacher. It lets us see what you already know and where you are struggling.

That she was very detailed Oriented when it comes to her students. She makes sure each student is learning in the best way made for them. She is always open to help and question at any time. Duzyk doesn't generalize kids she makes sure she learning each student's learning style.
