About Tracie

I have been passionate about teaching music since I was 15 years old. It is my mission to provide an excellent musical experience to anyone that has the passion to learn more about general music essentials, and of course, the viola or violin. I will set up each student with goals to achieve whatever level the aspire to reach, and I will make sure to tell them what needs to take place to recieve those results.

I received my Bachelors in Instrumental Music Education at Baylor University, and I'm currently finishing my second year as a graduate student at University of Texas at Austin. I have been playing the viola for over 10 years, and have been teaching beginner/intermediate violin for over 8 years.

I am a Texas certified music teacher. I was an Texas All-State violist in 2014, was part of a winning ensemble at the Semper Pro Musica Chamber Competition in 2016, a finalist at the NANM National Scholarship Music Competition in 2017, and I have attended music festivals such as Brevard Music Festival and Eastern Music Festival.

I absolutely love seeing the progression in students skill level in music over time. I get to know the student, and assess the best strategies in bettering the progress and understanding of the subject. The best part is when I see a student have a lightball go off in their head when they finally understand something. Their understanding brings me pure joy and happiness. That is why I love to educate; so I can see and help a persons knowledge and overall growth.

I started teaching music when I was 15. My old high school teacher asked me to teach her grandkids the violin, and I fell in love with private teaching music ever since.

I have a Bachelors degree in Music Education from Baylor University. I'm working on my Masters in Viola Performance at UT Austin. I've been private teaching viola/violin lessons for over 7 years, and I also started teaching Music Theory lessons this year.

About the lesson

I will first have a consulting session which will be figuring out what they do or don't know about music, and then we will go on further with a plan of repertoire, etudes, and exercises.

Currently, I will be only offering online lessons via Zoom due to the COVID-19 restraints in Texas, and also for the safety of the student and teacher.

I've worked from seven year olds to 30 year olds! I have no cut off range for age. It's never too late to learn!

Make sure that you are comfortable with the teacher, and you match energies. Don't feel afraid to take lessons and expand yourself, and make sure you and your teacher understands your goals and time frame in when and how you want to learn.

I was recently fond of teaching a engineering doctoral student and fellow friend music theory this year. It was something new, and it showed that I could spread my age range for teaching.
