About Kelly

I am a keyboardist by trade. I have been playing for 30 years now. I am also a songwriter, composer, and a worship musician.

I am the keyboardist for "D2K", a Christian rock band. I am also a member of the Worship Musicians Association and a member of a ministry called The Peacemakers, where I play keyboards for a outreach service at two homeless shelter in Los Angeles, CA.

I am a member of the Gospel Music Association, the Nashville Songwriter's Association International, and the San Diego Songwriter's Guild.

I love music, plain and simple. I am very passionate about music, and especially keyboards/synthesizers. I love to help others, and to help someone witth music is a very special honor.

I have taught several informal classes and adults. I do not have a ton of experience in teaching music. I have also taught classes for other industries including formal financial education classes, and informal training sessions.

I have 30 years of experience playing keyboards, I have taken courses from Berklee School of Music and received certifications, I have taken private lessons and college classes on music theory.

About the lesson

I first want to get to know them. What are they like, what habits do they have, how do they best learn, what are their goals. Then I would develop and curriculum/plan for teaching them.

Mostly adult.

Find someone you get along with. You will spend plenty of time together in weekly lessons. Find someone whose teaching style works best for you.

Recently a music ministry I am involved that does services at a woman and a men's homeless shelter in LA only had two of us available from the band. The bassist/sound guy, and myself on keys and vocals. I was a little nervous as this was a big step for me in being the lead vocal, and leading the service. It went great, and was an awesome experience.

No. I have not done it in a focused and systematic way. So I don't, but I would think a standard flat rate for all students would make the most sense. Keep it simple.
