About Sofia

I teach a variety of music lessons to students of any age. I teach clarinet, flute, and ukulele lessons. I also teach music theory. I went to Douglas Anderson School of the Arts for high school, and have experience in recording/sound engineering, music performance and teaching music. Also, I am a Florida All-State Musician.

Being a musician is such a powerful job. You have the power to create melodies and make people feel emotions. I love the emotions that come with music, and I am very passionate about writing and playing music. The ability to share my craft with others is something I enjoy immensely.

I started teaching my freshman year of high school. I was a camp counselor to beginning band students. Then, throughout high school, I taught my own private lessons, mainly with clarinet.

I went to Douglas Anderson School of the Arts for high school, with a concentration in instrumental music. I play seven musical instruments, and have experience teaching piano, ukulele, clarinet, and flute. I have taught at middle school summer band camps, teaching All State workshops. I am an All State musician myself, so I use my experience in helping other younger students make the All State ensembles. I have also taught my own private music lessons on the side. I am very passionate about my work as a musician and singer songwriter, and love teaching what I know to others.

About the lesson

I assess their current skills, asking them to play a few notes or play a scale. I also ask them if there is anything they are preparing for, such as an audition or performance. I put the needs of the student first, going for what he/she wants to learn.

Mainly younger students, in middle school and early high school.

Look for a teacher passionate about their music. Without passion, there is no emotion in their art. What I try to teach students is to feel something with their own music and what they are playing.

I am in the process of recording my own EP, and I am very fond of my studio time. I was singing and recording the last song on the EP called "I Miss You, Like a Lot". Just closing my eyes and singing...it transported me to another world. The emotion that I felt in my own voice and in the words I was singing felt amazing. And that is why I love music so much.
