About Lauren
I am an apprentice voice teacher studying under Wendy Parman.
As a trained vocalist with a degree in theater performance I am able to bring a unique level of understanding to my students. Theater involves examining those things that make us similar and those things that make us different in order to achieve our best level of understanding and communication. This translates directly to working with various styles of music and performance. My vocal background ranges from classic musical theater repertoire to bluegrass to pop R&B.
I love singing and I love to hear others sing. I think music is a pivotal part of our lives regardless of "talent". Everyone should have the opportunity to sing and feel good about how they sound. The stage doesn't matter-it could be a concert hall, a local choir or your very own kitchen. Singing can bring joy to anyone's life and I believe its a vital part of the human experience.
I have a degree in theater performance from Baldwin-Wallace University.
I have been studying voice with private instruction for over a decade.
I have been an apprentice vocal teacher for 2 years.

An initial lesson would begin by defining the students goals for voice lessons. Are you here because you love to sing at home, at karaoke or church and simply want to improve? Are you a student preparing for auditions? Are you a professional looking to hone your singing skills?
Then we would start vocalizing to access the students current vocal ability. From here I would offer my professional opinion. What are the students current opportunities for improvement? How do I plan to help the student reach their goals? Do I feel like we would be a good fit as teacher and student?
