About Lance
I come from a long line of Artists. Therefore, I was raised and nurtured as an artist in Pensacola FL. by my talented family. The Ability to create and be creative is something that comes extremely natural for me. Although, I only began painting professionally about six years ago. Before that I would only have considered myself a pencil artist/photographer.
Color and paint came into my life by what I would later call destiny... a chance of a lifetime. Without much practice in acrylic paints, I applied to become an Art Instructor/Entertainer at Painting With A Twist, in Melbourne, FL. I was hired along with four other acrylic Artists who were classically trained and educated. For four years I soaked up everything I could from these special people and that became my college. I was so naturally inclined, I became the Lead Art Instructor in the studio and began sharing my gift with groups of 40 people at once. Over the years, I've built a relationship with the paint and the canvas, applying what I've learned from my co-instructors and extreme repetition. I would consider myself proficient in acrylic paints. Naturally, the next step would be to become A solo Artist and take my abilities to the next level. So, after a wonderful career in teaching at Painting With A Twist, I reached the pinnacle of what it had to offer me. I decided to move to Key West and pursue my dreams as a solo Artist and after 2 1/2 years of living on the island I've made somewhat of a splash. My first year, I was nominated for a peoples choice award call "The Bubbas" for "Best Artist" alongside such names as Wyland, (locally famous artist)Rick Worth. In the time that I've been on the island of KW I have 8 murals, countless Commissions and have taught public and private classes. I've given back to the island through charities such as the Sister Season Foundation and AH of Monroe County. Being a member of the community as an Artist has been very fulfilling. Although Painting for the love of painting is wonderful... I realized, the real joy in painting is sharing it with others. So I'd like to teach, interact, entertain and inspire others again once more.
In 2014 a painting studio was opening in downtown Melbourne, FL. they were looking for fun, enthusiastic, talented individuals to lead a fun art class 2-3 hour sessions. I had no training in the fine art world other than what came naturally to me. So I basically faked it till I made it. I became the lead art instructor within one month and it was off from there! Working with extremely talented artist I absorbed everything they had to say. Drill after drill and duplicating paintings, creating new paintings and teaching classes of 40 people how to do what I was doing. I was born for the job!!
I am a self taught artist but I feel like I have a special leg up on most instructors bc I teach the way I taught myself. I taught myself by challenging myself and by keeping an open mind about what art is. Furthermore, I worked with a team of artist who all went to college and was taught classical methods of painting. For years I soaked up every tip and trick and technique. That was my college(it was a lot cheaper than tuition or student loans) When speaking to them, they saw the looseness and admired my fearlessness when I painted. Saying I was lucky not to have gone to school to learn bc college almost contained the mind and creativity, to fit the mold of an artist. The truth is we were all born artists. This is why I like to call my style of painting "unbridled Painting" I can capture the raw emotions in a painting by feeling it.

New students are the best bc the first steps in learning to paint is to understand the paint's properties and how they react on canvas and when being mixed. That means it's pure playful understanding, with my guidance, we go through the basics of learning to paint for the 1st and 2nd sessions.
I have taught young, old and everything in between. Working for a company like Painting With A Twist, who started the "paint and sip" Industry. Gave me many opportunities to share my gift with the world without question who sat in front of an easel(which can be scary) but I assure you... there is nothing to be afraid of. ☺️
My advice to anyone wanting to express themselves in the form of painting. I say do it! There is so much joy and adventure waiting for you. Still to this day, I surprise myself and what I have created. You can too. Trust me, day in and day out I would walk onto a stage and walk folks step by step on how to create a beautiful work of art (these are people who have not picked up a paintbrush since grade school or maybe never). to their surprise and amazement they did too! But not before they said "I can't do that. I can't even draw straight line." my reply would always be: "Yes you can and good news! There are no straight lines in this painting!"

Lance is an amazing artist and a wonderful teacher. My family and I have enjoyed Lances teachings and his art work. We learned to much when we took multiple classes with him in Melbourne. He’s inspired my daughter to paint her own artwork.

Prices for lessons (for most cases)
100.00 for every 2 hour session (includes all paint and materials)
with a minimum of four sessions.
every student/situation differs so this is a Sliding scale.
The goal at the end of four sessions is to have a painting you created and are very proud of!
