About Carlos
Wether you are just starting out as a photographer or videographer, want to refresh on some skills you may have lost during time away from a camera, or know the ins and outs of shooting but want to take the next step with Portrait and Studio Photography, I can help you out. I myself started out taking photos of nature and architecture, focusing on the world around me and slowly transitioned into studio photography so I could fully encompass what the different areas of photography were and have a better understanding of how light and camera work hand in hand together. I have a passion and love for teaching others about the things I love. If you work with me I promise I will work with you with patience and diligence to help you accomplish whatever goal you are trying to succeed in. I have been taking photos since my early childhood, but my professional experience began in early 2016. I am relatively young and new to the field, but my passion and excitement I bring will be like no one else offers.
I love being able to capture moments. One single frame in time that can tell a whole story in itself. All of the photos I take are my memories and how I can pass those along to my next generation. To me it's more than just a job, it's something to truly fall in love with.
I began teaching when I had a friend reach out to me letting me know that she had just bought a camera and didn't understand a whole lot about how it worked and wanted to take it off of Automatic so she could use the camera to its full potential. She had seen my work online and knew that I was an avid photographer and trusted that I would be able to teach her more about what she wanted to learn.
I went to school for Film Production so there are many skills that overlap in the Videography and Photography world and have had a camera in my hands for almost the entirety of my life.

I prefer to start off by having a sit down or phone call with the student to find out their knowledge on photography. I want the student to hold their camera (if they own one) and tell me how it works to see how comfortable they are with their equipment. Next, I would find out how well they understand aperture, shutter speed, and ISO (the three key points to udnerstand in photography). Lastly I would dig in and try to uncover what the student is hoping to learn from working with me so we can help to build a course that will properly teach the student and they can walk away feeling like they have reached a goal.
I have mostly worked with students that have very little experience in photography and are just starting out and need a little guidance.
Don't fooled by someone who is full of themselves and their work (because usually those kinds of people have a large price tag as wel). Photography is a field that is constantly growing and evolving around is. We all have much to learn as each year passes, teachers and student alike. Take your time and be patient to find the right teacher for what you need/want to learn.
Recently I worked with a class whom are very new to photography but had the chance to work with my studio lighting setup. They were all super excited and had an amazing time working with gear that they might never get a normal opportunity to work with. I think it helped really put them into the lesson and give them some proper hands on experience you can't get from reading a book.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
How are passionate and intrigued are you about photography? I have come across many people that thought they were interested but either got bored or gave up on it because it was just too much information for them to take in. Be sure this is something you want to do with your time and take up as a hobby as there is a lot to learn and absorb and gear in this field can be rather expensive.
