About Alicia

I am a NYS certified Earth Science, Physics, and General Science Teacher. I am also a Google Certified Levels 1 and 2 Educator. I am adequately versed in NGSS Standards, and familiar with NYS 8th grade Science Test as well as Regents Physics and Regents Earth Science Exams. I have also taught college level calculus based physics. I am a published scientist and experienced lab manager and supervisor. I can meet with students online as scheduled. First session is free.

I love working with students and being privy to the amazing questions they have and being a part of the experience when they have their AHA moments. Students always help me be a better teacher through their struggles and acheivements, so that I can create better lessons tailored to their needs and so that I can utilize new strategies I learn through that experience with other stuents. I am a teacher in a public school as well, so being able to bring insights from my tutees to my classroom students is an added benefit to my teaching. Really I just love the way the mind works and I love sharing what I know with my students and watching them grow and learn.

I am a skilled laboratory scientist. My laboratory and scientific backgrouns is in the fields of physics, geophysics, and biophysics. I have a BA in physics and earth science from Vassar College. I also earned a MA in Teaching from Suny New Paltz. I am certified to teach Earth Science, Physics, and General Science in NYS. I am also well versed and experienced in technological tools such as Google Apps for Education. I am a Google Certified Level 1 and 2 Educator.

About the lesson

I conduct a survey about student confidence level with related material and assess and evaluate the student's prior knowledge to detemine what skills are in need of strengthening. I create personlized lessons that will help to determine where a student is struggling and to help build the necessary skills to continue moving forward. I use interactive features of Google Docs to create digitally interactive experiences for students to use as learning tools.
