About Madeleine

Hello, my name is Madeleine Gendron and I am teaching in Oregon since 1995 on piano classical, jazz, violin, voice and music theory. I am a member of OMTA (Oregon Music Teacher Association) and provide the possibility to follow their syllabus if desired.

I am currently in Quebec City to assist my mother with health issues and my return is planned in Oregon for summer 2024, so I currently teach on zoom for my students in Oregon and Texas.

I am passionate about music and like all styles, I do teach improvisation as well as repertoire and technic using new methods.

Level 10 obtained in Quebec,Canada at Laval University, School of Music. I have been teaching for 25 years and had my own music school in rural Oregon.

About the lesson

Establising a good relationship and rapport and agree on goals together. Provide some materials to review at thi very first lesson and begin to build up from there for the next time.

From ages 4 to seniors coming from different backgrounds, no music experience or exposure to coming from a very musical family and very talented.

I also have worked with mentally challenged, low vision, ADHA, emotionally challenged and mild autism students.

Be honest with your expectations and specific about your goals so the teacher knows exactly where you want to go early on. Saves you time and money!

Last November I organized a recital for my violin students specifically in a Memory Care facility as community service to the residents. Even with some preparation I surprised my students with duets to perform and presented the parts at the last minute, they did very well, I was pleased with all of them for providing when asked and showing their reading skills.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Think about: your budget, time you can dedicate each week for review/practice, the type of music you like (enjoy to listen, enjoy to play) , possibilities for ensemble (duets, accompaniement), achiement with an organisation (work toward a certificate or join an orchestra/band or school ensemble)
