About Keshawn

I enjoy spreading my passion to others. Teaching music in all forms is one of the best forms of service I can do.

I started teaching music for the first time after I graduate High School. I taught music theory lessons, as well as saxophone lessons to kids grades 6-12.

I have studied Saxophone for 11 years, Oboe for 6 years, Piano for 4 years, and clarinet for 3 years. Aside from my hands on studying I'm currently a graduating senior attending the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff studying music education. I've also performed in groups like the IHSA All-State band, District 205 honor band, Marching Musical Machine of the Mid-South, and the UAPB Wind symphony. With my field experience, and other work experience I have a year's worth of teaching experience.

About the lesson

My typical process starts by assuming that my students know absolutely nothing. In order to teach my students I need to know what the student knows, and what they don't know wheater it's something that's common knowledge or not. Once I have an understanding where they are we can decide where to start, and move at the level or pace they are at.

I have taught students 6th-12th grade before in music. Because I also have such a large passion for music I have also taught adults before as well.

I would tell my students to hire an individual that loves what they do for a living. Hiring someone that loves what they do ensures that not only are you investing in someone who you trust is qualified but you trust them also to give you the experience your looking for, and beyond.

One recent event I'm fond of is I recently had the chance to audition for the Disney Symphony orchestra early this year. Although I didn't make the audition the experience I had to do something so big was amazing.
