With 35 years of experience I can help you reach your goals!

My background and training is in Jazz theory and classical with a strong focus on learning songs by ear. I have been playing proffesionally in bands for 20 years in all styles but mostly in jazz funk rock and soul groups. I love helping people learn how to play the songs they love and hear in their souls. I will help you know how to recognize commen chord movements and classic phrases and licks so you will have the tools to perform either at home or on stage.

People just kept asking me for lessons which also eventually lead to teaching at School of Rock for 2 years including running full band programs.

Classical performance and theory since age 5. Studied Jazz thoery and arranging with Ray Brown at Cabrillo College in Santa Cruz. 20 years of performing with various groups proffesionally including Grammy nominated and awarded artists such as Alan Evans of Soulive and Will Bernard.

About the lesson

First I like to hear what you the student knows about the piano and play anything you like to show where you are currently at. This way I can see where the approiate place to begin will be. After that I have you let me know of any or all goals you want to reach. Then we dive inand start learning.
