About Ellen

I am very good at teaching beginners and working with young children. I have my Masters In Education and also have training in the Suzuki method for Flute. I am licensed to teach Musikgarten. Ask me about my online classes. I have experience teaching 4-year-olds up to adults.

I enjoy being able to teach the skills my students need to learn in creative and motivational ways. I like to use musical games in my teaching to make it as fun as possible.

Here is my Linkedin page to find out more about me.

About the lesson

I will talk with my student and find out what they already know about their instrument. If they have started playing, I'll have he/she play something that they are very comfortable with and listen and observe if he/she needs any work with posture, sound production (if a flute or recorder student), finger position, etcetera, and then we will work on skills to strengthen and weaknesses. Then in each consecutive lesson we will work on learning more challenging pieces, but take it step by step. I like to break down what we are doing into manageable steps the student will have success with, so the lessons and learning will always be a positive experience.
