Perfect! I had piano lessons from 4th grade through 12th grade. I mastered quite a few complicated music compositions, but it was always only based on the notes and tempo (at which I "excelled"), but ...

I returned to music lessons over 40 years later with Abby. Since then, with Abby, I've learned about lead sheets. I now I have the itch to convert some flute music with only the treble clef to have an accompanying bass clef for the the piano. We're now working on this to my great amazement!

I lucked onto to Abby Wheatley. She is THE BEST!!! for those who want the know the why and not just the how.

Abby is an amazing teacher in this respect. Her knowledge of music theory is superb. She helps me navigate the chords for the various signatures (not to mention to recognize the signature of the piece we're working with). I'm hoping to convert some christmas carols from flute to piano by adding the bass clef appropriate to the music signature.

I highly recommend Abby as a superb teacher of students returning to piano after learning the basics as youngsters. This is not to discourage other students wishing to learn the "how" behind music, but to encourage those who want to know the "why" behind the music they may be playing,

IMO, you can't go wrong with Abby Wheatley as a teacher!!

These lessons far exceed what I had as a teenager (lo, 50 years ago!) She makes it great fun and enjoyable and a learning experience after all these years.

I highly recommend her for those who learned the notes but not the reasons behind what they learned as youngsters, and now want to know the why!! And even how to expand their knowledge to begin to add to their repertoire of music they can play with two hands.

She is also amazingly patient with her explanations. These explanations are always clear. Just this week, we talked about all the of the C-major chords and how they relate to the music signature. I'm very sure that I'll be able to discern how to add a bass clef to the flute helody for some basic christmas carols, even for the A-major signature.

Again, Abby Wheatley is by far, an excellent teacher for those returning to piano - and I suspect, also her ability to guide young learners!

Perfect! Abby does a great job with the three of us (myself and my two children ages 9 & 10). We have been taking lessons for 1.5 years and she take times to connect with us as well as finding the right challenge.
