About Joel

Some reasons I know you are making the right choice to hire me: 1. A Bachelor of Arts in Piano 2. Over a decade of experience teaching lessons to students of all ages 3. The Music Pastor at Capitol City Baptist Church since 2011 4. Substantial experience in song-writing, many great opportunities as wedding/event pianist, trained in Ukraine under Yurii Abramenko, arranged and composed many soundtracks and theme music

I am passionate about teaching any age piano! I focus on the entire musical training (not just checking off pages from a book); I believe strongly that piano should be FUN, and you should be able to play the music that YOU are interested in!

- Bachelor of Arts in Piano (Pensacola Christian College) - Over 8 years experience as music pastor and pianist at Capitol City Baptist Church in Columbus OH

- Substantial experience in song-writing, many great opportunities as wedding/event pianist, trained in Ukraine under Yurii Abramenko, arranged and composed many soundtracks and theme music

About the lesson

I want to find out what makes you excited about piano (and music in general). If you've never played before, we'll start from the basics and make sure you get to playing something you enjoy quickly. If you are already experienced, I want to make sure we are preparing you for whatever your music goals may be; whether that means building on what you've already learned, or going in an exciting new direction!

I have worked with a wide range of students: ages 3 to 77, boys and girls, students with learning disabilities, beginners and advanced, home schooled students, and more.

Our three oldest children took lessons, the youngest is 4! She loved it so much and excelled beyond what we thought!! Joel made piano exciting for my son, who was the least thrilled. He went above and beyond to help him advance!!
