About Julie

I am a professional pianist with a bachelor’s and master’s degree from the Juilliard School, and currently working on my Doctoral of Musical Arts at Manhattan School of Music. I have worked with several world-renowned pianists including Robert McDonald, Horacio Gutierrez, and Haesun Paik. Their influence not only helped me develop as a pianist but also taught me how to teach and showed me the impact of truly masterful teacher can have on their students.

I serve as a piano faculty member at Bronx Conservatory of Music and Lindeblad School of Music, in addition to teaching private students. I have taught students at varying levels of experience and from varying backgrounds, ranging from 4-year-old to adult. Some of them had their very first piano lesson with me and others are promising concert pianists at Juilliard pre-college.

I'm currently teaching at several different music schools, including Bronx Conservatory of Music, Lindeblad School of Music, and Arete Academy of Music as a piano faculty. I started teaching in most of these schools about a year ago, when I finished the coursework for my doctoral degree. Of my 30 students, most of them range from 6 to 15 years old, with a couple of adult students. They're mostly still learning how to read music, and getting excited to play the instrument. I also have several private students, they're older and more serious about pursuing music as career such as Juilliard pre-college students and competition winners.

In the past, I was a teaching assistant at Interlochen Arts Camp, working with Intermediate division (middle school ages) students. Also during the first two years of my doctoral degree, I taught group piano classes for non-piano majors at Manhattan School of Music.
