About Steven

As a trained classical pianist with numerous performances, awards, and accolades from halls around the United States including Isaac Stern Auditorium at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, my true passion lies in teaching, and working with musicians to fulfill whatever goals they may have. I have worked with toddlers, children, and adults of all ages for years and myself help organize amateur music concerts at various performance venues. Music's meaning lies in its scope, and I look to help anyone willing to pick up piano, improve technique, or enter the competition circuit experience the joys of piano however possible.

I have been at the piano from childhood, entering the competition circuit at a young age and garnering awards in numerous music competitions and festivals, managed by organizations such as the American Fine Arts Festival, Leschitetzky Association, the New York Grand Prix, Bradshaw and Buono International Competition, AADGT, and others. I have worked in the concert industry for a decade, running performances for musicians of all ages as part of the American Protege International Competition.

About the lesson

After an initial lesson designed to get to know the student, their interests, and their skillset, I collaborate with students to choose repertoire that would best train both technical and musical skills necessary to be a well-rounded musician, deferring always to repertoire that is of interest to students. As technique develops, "the practice of good practicing" is capitalized on in order to make most efficient use of time both in and out of the studio.

Students of all ages from ages 4 to 60 have come through my studio. Some went on to compete in various events around New York State, and some simply wanted a way to improve technique when pursuing music as a favorite hobby. Regardless of skill level and goals, I am able to provide the help necessary, and am intimately connected to the competition circuit should that be a priority for any student.

Look for a vision-flexible teacher who matches your goals and is willing to work with you rather than pushing a certain rigid mental state. Music is to you what you make it: make sure anyone who teaches you is well aware of what music is to you and working to further your personal musical experience.
