About Sung-Soo
My diverse and effective pedagogical approach is influenced by my extensive studies at historically renowned institutions in both the United States and South Korea. My students, with a variety of proficiencies and cultural backgrounds, have acquired technical efficiency, knowledge in music theory and history, and individual artistry. I constantly encourage curiosity and discovery in their lives and support individual challenges and assessment of personal and artistic goals. I constantly encourage curiosity and discovery in their lives and support individual challenges and assessment of personal and artistic goals.
For me, building a lifelong connection, trust, bond, and musical relationship with each student is my most rewarding experience. As a teacher and a mentor, my goal is to profoundly guide them in creating and executing meaningful artistic expressions through our medium. For instance, I helped a college beginner who was not able to read music successfully to learn and perform the J.S. Bach Musette in D major from memory for a final jury recital. Ultimately, I seek valuable and meaningful teaching that is visible in the growth of individual student.
