About Teodora

Hi! My name is Elena and I have studied piano for 20 years in Romania. Two years ago I also began vocal training and now I would love to share from my experience with you. I am currently enrolled in an intensive musical theater conservatory in New York and pursue my career as an actor. I have taught piano to children as young as the age of 4 to older ones around the age of 12. In my career as a pianist I’ve won many national and international competitions in my native country, sustained recitals and concerts as a soloist and I was also part of a trio.

For questions please don’t hesitate to contact me.

I started teaching in an after school program for children when a friend of mine asked me to help her. I discovered that I love sharing my experience with the young ones and it gives me satisfaction to see them succeed.

I have studied piano from the age of 4 and also went to a music school and highschool. During those years I had many piano teachers outside of school and also worked with some international proffessionals. I went to music college for two years when the opportunity to study musical theater arrived and I decided to pursue an acting career besides piano.

About the lesson

I set up a meeting with the student and his/her parents to discuss what are their objectives, why do they want to study piano and how much effort are they willing to put in the work.

My advice to all the students is to figure out as soon as possible how serious they would like to be trained in this instrument. A proffessional career as a pianist begins from a young age, the training is intensive and requires someone who has an understanding of the entire process to lead the young performer on this path. The training as an amateur performer it’s similar in techniques but much more relaxed timewise and effortwise. It is better to know from the beginning what are your expectations as a student so we can meet them as teachers.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
The students should think carefully what kind of training would they like to receive (intensive/proffessional or relaxed/amateur)

How much time are they willing to devote to practice.

What are the expectations from the mentor?

I have a charge pan based on the student’s needs which are discussed in the first meeting. The price varies depending if the student wants to pursue a proffessional career which requires more hours, or wants to study piano as an extra curricular activity.
