About Meaghan

Before covid-19, I would travel to you; however, with this distance learning phenomenon, you can still learn to read music, play piano, and grow in confidence and musical ability in the comfort and convenience of your own home! I have a B.A. in Music from Washington State University, am a member of MTNA, and have taught piano since 2002. The most important thing to learn while taking piano lessons is that music is fun and amazing! By experiencing piano lessons you are learning a skill and an appreciation for music that you can take with you the rest of your life. It is a skill that can propel you into exciting job opportunities, help earn scholarships for college, and simply give you a creative and expressive hobby. Imagine learning something FUN that can also come in handy for your future!

I love that lightbulb moment when all the practice comes together for the student and they realize they have advanced. I like to review with students what they have done and let them see just how far they have come. It's so rewarding for the student and for me as their teacher.

I started teaching piano after I graduated college. The daughter of my brother's boss was looking for a teacher and I jumped at the opportunity to start teaching piano lessons.

I have been teaching students piano since 2002--in person and online.

About the lesson

I like to have an interview/meet-and-greet lesson to assess where the student is in their piano learning journey. After I get an idea of where to start, we can start the actual lessons the following week. I work with students to learn note-reading, proper technique, music theory, and love of playing piano!

I have worked with students from age four to age eighty-seven, people with special needs, and non-disabled people.

Make sure to tell your prospective teacher what you are hoping to learn and get out of your lessons. Some teachers have different focuses and you want to make sure you find the right fit.

I am particularly proud of our last piano recital. Not only does it give students a chance to shine and let their interpretations be heard, but it also allows people to come together and enjoy the community of people who enjoy music.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
How long does it take to learn piano? How much time should I spend practicing? What are my goals for learning piano? Is there a musician who inspires me? Why do I want to play piano?
