About Rachel

I strive to keep lessons fun and upbeat, while also focusing on proper technique and artistry, theory, note reading, and improvisation. I offer personalized instruction to each student and will work to best enhance each student's musical talent.

I have been teaching music for 15 years. I received my Bachelor of Science in Music Education K-12 from Lebanon Valley College Lebanon, PA in 2009. I taught general music clases/chorus in Pennsylvania public schools from 2009-2012, while also teaching private piano and cello lessons with Lebanon Valley College Community Music. In 2012 I married, and subsequently moved to my husband's home state of Indiana. Since then, I have taught private piano and cello lessons out of my home, as well as some general music classes for homeschool students.

I am associated with The Piano Shop as a VIP teacher, and as such, have use of their beautiful St Mary's of Knobb's church location for recitals.

I enjoy seeing students experience the joy of music. There is so much fulfillment in seeing one accomplish their goals through practice and hard work. I enjoy connecting with students and inspiring them to be the best musicians that they can be.

I began teaching while a sophomore in college. I started teaching cello lessons through Lebanon Valley College Community Music.

About the lesson

I will first assess the student's playing ability. I will then recommend appropriate materials needed for lessons. Lessons will be conducted in an organized fashion, beginning with warmups, scales and technique, and ending with lesson and performance material.

Beginners, intermediate, advanced from ages 5-60

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Do I have the necessary materials needed to play an instrument, or a way to obtain them? You will need an instrument, books, metronome, possibly a music stand, tote bag, instrument maintenance.

Do I have time to practice 20-40 per day, 5-6 days per week?

If this is a child, parents can ask: Is my child ready to sit and practice for lessons?
