About Joanna

Friends of the family approached me at a young age with children who wished to be instructed. I am thankful that they put this faith in me for since that moment I have so enjoyed my years of teaching as well as connecting with each and every student!

I have taught students at my Abington home studio continuously since 2012 (recommendations available if desired) and have recently taken a teaching position at Music Forte.

I have been a church pianist for eight years (traditional hymnody).

I studied Eurhythmics for one year, and also experienced the benefits of a piano teacher who incorporated those principles into my lessons.

My piano teachers have been Joyce Goodwin, Karen Burgman, and Ken Borrmann (recommendations are available if desired).

I accompanied many vocalists and instrumentalists, both in highschool and college, for both lessons and recitals.

I have earned my Piano Performance degree at Cairn University.

About the lesson

I offer one complimentary lesson so that we can determine in person if we will work well together as student and teacher.

I have taught students of all ages and have enjoyed the variations in approach and focus that naturally result from each different student.

I urge you to search for a good connection between teacher and student. It is also ideal if the teacher places equal focus on musicality as well as technical proficiency. A piece of music executed with technical perfection is not enough, it lacks the expression and emotion that lends to music its true power.
