About Corey

My favorite aspect of psychology is helping others better understand human behavior. We all think, feel, and experience the world in our own ways, and being able to better observe and explain the "why" behind behavior fundamentally alters our perceptions.

I have experience working with students across a wide variety of settings, ages, and initial ability levels. I absolutely love facilitating learning in general, but specifically about psychology.

I've always enjoyed sharing information and helping others to better understand material. In college I led several study groups and my desire to teach grew from there! After taking courses focusing on teaching skills and learning approaches I feel well-equipped to assist others.

I currently hold 2 M.A. degrees (focused on Clinical Psychology and Experimental Psychology) and have tutored students for a number of years. I have also taken several courses regarding learning and pedagogical approaches.

About the lesson

I tend to focus initially on getting a solid sense of a student's current needs. These may be discrete (e.g. I have a final in my abnormal psychology course and need some help) or broader in scope (e.g. I just don't get behaviorism). Once we've established a collaborative strategy, I help students leverage their learning strengths in a manner that best fits their educational approaches and goals.

I've worked with students in a variety of subjects from elementary school to college courses over the past decade.

Look not only for the most qualified tutor, but for someone who can meet your learning style and adapt their approach to best fit you. While you're focused on learning material, don't forget that this is done through continued communication between two human beings.

I've been hiking a lot recently, and found a spot with an amazing overlook a few weeks ago. I spent quite awhile sitting on a rock and watching the river flow by beneath me.
