About Kate

Hello!

My name is Kate and I offer to help you with your English writing and speaking. Here I will tell you a little bit about myself and how I can assist you.

In 2017 I graduated from university with a BFA in Contemporary Dance and Choreography. Post-graduation I was pushed to improve my writing skills, as regular grant writing and project applications became a part of my life. It was a big challenge for me to adjust to expressing myself through words, as opposed to my training in dance. Eventually, with the help of some close friends who became my trusted editors, I have become more confident and even inspired by the writing process.

A year after graduation I moved to Europe, where I still live currently. Here, I became a part of a large international network of students and artists. I became someone that people could trust to look over their essays, job applications, prepare for interviews, and even teach them the basics of the language. As this began to happen, I realized it was something that I would like to pursue more seriously, and help other people with expressing themselves and their ideas, through the English language.

Currently, I work in Germany as an English teacher for kindergarteners, first and second graders. All of my students are learning English for the first time. It's my job to make learning a new language a fun process and I hope to share that with my students.

Coming from a background in the Arts, I have many years of experience offering constructive criticism. I believe I am someone who is able to digest material and see where something has gotten a bit confused. When I see this I offer my guidance to help the person articulate what it is that they are trying to express.

What I can offer you:

Feeling really stuck on an important essay or article? Need some assistance and an extra pair of eyes? Allow me to give some gentle guidance and suggestions. Give yourself the space to enter into a reflective dialogue with another person.

Learning English and want to speak/learn with a Native English speaker? Tell me about your goals and we can meet to learn in a fun and casual way.

Struggling with that creative writing or poetry assignment? We can work together to unlock your creativity while having fun.

About the lesson

- Getting to know eachother, and what the students goals are.

- Reviewing material and the way the feedback will be delivered.

- Example. student sends me their work and we schedule deadlines for exchange. Or, we schedule times to meet online to discuss material.

- Continue to learn about the learning style of the student to give the best feedback possible.
