About Christopher

I’ve been teaching Voice and Music Theory since 2004. I love helping students reach their desired next level whether that’s learning about how chords works, prepping for the A.P. Music Theory Exam, hitting the notes, or making sure they’re ready to sing for their All-State audition.

I hold a Bachelors Degree in Music Education with a vocal emphasis from Murray State University and a Masters Degree from the University of Louisville in Choral Conducting. During my masters program, I sang with the University of Louisville Cardinal Singers which was ranked in the top three competiting choirs in the world.

As a high school teacher, I taught A.P. Music Theory to prepare students for the A.P. Exam. I’ve also been a private voice instructor since 2004. I love teaching students how to sing the music they love in a way that will keep their voice healthy and beautiful for a lifetime.

I’ve been passionate about teaching and music for as long as I can remember. I began running rehearsals for my high school marching band when I was a high school drum major. My first official teaching position was as choir director and music theory teacher at Daviess County High School In 2007.

I like to begin with understanding what you want to achieve and then creating an individualized study program for your specific needs. It’s important to me to provide outstanding education while also creating a learning environment that is engaging and comfortable for the student.

I’ve taught voice to all ages 5-90. My typical voice students have a passion for a particular type of music like pop, classical, or broadway and want to learn how to sing healthily and beautifully in that style.

My typical music theory student is fascinated by what makes music sound the way it does. Many students are either in college and want additional help with their coursework or are high schoolers who want to prepare for their A.P. exam or college music placement test.

It’s a given that you want someone who has learned the subject and has experience teaching. But beyond that, look for someone who sees the best in you and inspires you to fulfill your potential. And never forget that learning music should be fun! Find a teacher that helps you learn music joyfully.

I just completed a month and a half long road trip through the Western United States where we explored the dessert southwest and the beaches of Southern California!

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What is your intention for taking lessons? Is it for college prep, singing at an event, or because you love to learn about music? Be clear on why you want to take lessons.

What do you want your specific outcomes to be? Ace the A.P. Exam? Learn to hit the high note for the school musical auditions? Feel confident singing in front of others?

How much time/study are you willing to commit to realize your desired outcomes?
