About Terence

I have a passion for teaching voice. I specialize in classical and legit theater vocal technique. I am a technician with a acoustical and positional based approach. I studied at New England Conservatory and the College Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati (CCM). I have been teaching for over 25 years and my students have sung at A opera houses, on Broadway and have been accepted at most of the top conservatories in America. I have online students around the globe from China to Europe and coast to coast in America. I look forward to be able to help you reach your vocal goals.

I knew I wanted to teach as an undergrad as soon as my teacher realized that I could "feel" what other singers were doing in a way most singers could not. By my senior year in undergrad, I had 25 students. I have been teaching as often as possible ever since.

I went to Cornell University undergrad, New England Conservatory for grad school, and the College Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati (CCM) for doctoral studies.

I was the New York City assistant teacher for renowned teacher Barbara Honn.

About the lesson

I start with some scales and we begin making technical improvements right away.

I mostly have worked with aspiring and working opera singers. I have worked with musical theater singers who are looking to improve their legit technique. I also love to work with students who just want to be better at singing fit their own enjoyment.

Many teachers teach to a sound they think you should have. Your best sound will come from the most efficient technique and it will be unique to you. A teacher should not be telling you how you should sound to be more marketable. They should be telling you how to sing so you can be more comfortable and resonant. Marketability will come with better technique.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Before taking lessons, you should ask yourself if you are truly ready to change. Are you ready to let go of your tension and control? Are you ready to listen to yourself less and trust the resonance to do the work? If you can trust the technique rather than your own ear, you are ready to become a great singer.
