About Josias

Josias Emeterio Yglesias is a writer, vocalist, producer and multi-instrumentalist from Detroit, MI. Yglesias is versatile among pop, electronic, world, hip-hop, acoustic and R&B, and demonstrates his unique approaches through his band SIAS. Yglesias graduated Berklee College of Music under two scholarships for his songwriting, and has appeared on Spotify’s U.S. Viral 50, Spotify’s Fresh Finds, ABC'S The Bachelor and Spotify Billboard. Yglesias’ group SIAS recently performed at EDC Mexico 2020, has been featured on MTV and on an entire episode of PBS’ Backstage Pass (Season 9, Episode 4). Yglesias recently performed at EDC Mexico this past March, and is now back in the studio preparing for multiple releases for 2021.

Josias has been teaching music lessons for over 5 years, in areas including songwriting, production, engineering, mixing, mastering, guitar and much more. Yglesias is patient, flexible with time, and passionate with the work he does. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions you may have, and with information on what you're looking to achieve.

Yglesias enjoys working with different artists, students and creators. He loves songwriting, producing, performing, engineering for his indie-pop duo SIAS, and the creators he meets along the way. Josias also loves building relationships with his students and getting to know what they're looking to achieve in the realm of music.

-Through my music studio based in Corktown, Detroit. Teaching other musicians, of all ages, about songwriting, production and much more.

-Berklee College of Music - Music Business Major with Vocals being Primary Instrument

-Personal Experience and Knowledge gained from mentors outside of schooling. Learning and applying knowledge directly into my music endeavors through my pop-electronic band SIAS

About the lesson

-Understanding the students goals and what they'd like to attain.

-Getting to know the students area of musical interest and background in music.

-Understanding the level the student is at with their certain musical skills

-Creating a detailed plan and outline for each student, covering what will be taught and where each student will be after a certain period.

-Kids 10-14

-College Students

-Adults over the age of 30

-Music Producers, Vocalists, Songwriters, Guitarists and individuals practicing Music Business

As an artist in this rapidly changing music industry, one of the most significant things I've realized is how impactful it is to learn from other artists and my fellow peers. Whether it's knowing the proper recording equipment to purchase, how to write a more captivating composition, knowing how to properly promote a song with a small or big budget, or knowing the ins and outs of a DAW, learning from other people who have gone through trial and error can greatly improve the rate and quality of an artists development.

As a student of Berklee College of Music, I know that college education has been very insightful on my career, but not as much as the knowledge I've gained outside of the classroom. I've grown frustrated with the hurdles that universities make their students go through, which is why I've grown more interested in teaching and being more direct with studies of a students interest. If you're looking to hire a teacher that can help in areas of songwriting, singing, production, and music business, please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions you may have.

-Concerts & Festivals: EDC Mexico in which my band SIAS and I performed at.

-What exactly are you looking to improve or learn?

-What are your musical goals?

I remember when I first heard your music. It was the summer of 2016 and 89X decided to play your song "Wild"
I was blown away, we searched high and low for a copy, and my boyfriend at the time ended up reaching out to you guys about it. Turns out you guys didn't even know they played your song, and it made your week 🙂
Continue doing what you're doing, the city thanks you!
