Jayme is an excellent teacher! Not only is she super talented, which is really helpful as an inspiration but she is one of the kindest and most patient people, two attributes I would definitely want a teacher to have. There’s something very vulnerable about being an adult taking one-on-one singing lessons and Jayme made me feel comfortable. She met me where I was and even helped build my confidence. My goal was to not sing like a dying cat so I would feel comfortable singing along to the radio with other people in the car. Turns out I never actually sounded quite as bad as a dying cat but I actually am now willing to sing along in the car in front of my husband and a few others I’m close to. Jayme makes lessons fun and makes working on songs interesting and obtainable. She breaks down the songs into layers. She’s not trying to make you perfect after the first time you sing. In fact she isn’t pushing you to be perfect, she smoothly layers technique on top of technique giving you achievable goals and tasks to improve, charting your improvement and encouraging you all the way.
I should also quickly throw in how elegantly she transitioned to Zoom lessons when the pandemic hit. She’s incredibly concerned for everyone’s safety and adapted quickly and seamlessly to video lessons. Sounds weird but I’m telling you after a few lessons I didn’t even notice. There are not enough words to say what a great teacher Jayme is!
